Newcastle & District Softball Association's normal season runs in the summer months each year from October until March, with a break over the Christmas and New Year period. There are competitions in the following age and gender divisions:

Junior Mixed Competitions
  • U10 T20
  • U11 Zooka
  • U13 Modball
  • U15
  • U18

The junior competitions play with modified Softball rules to ensure that all players have equal opportunity, and that enjoyment is maximised. All junior teams are mixed-gender. Games will  vary in duration between 1 and 1.5 hours long, and are played on Saturday mornings. All NDSA competition games are held at the same time and place each week (Softball Complex, Stevenson Park, Mayfield West).

Senior Competitions

  • 1st Grade Men
  • 1st Grade Women
  • 2nd Grade Men
  • 2nd Grade Women
  • 3rd Grade Women
  •  3rd Grade Men
  • 4th Grade Women

Junior players are permitted to play in senior competitions, so long as the player is not considered at risk of injury based on their ability. Often juniors will play in lower-grade senior teams to gain experience and extra playing time of a weekend.  Depending on the number of registered players in each division, the 2nd and 3rd grade divisions will often amalgamate to form a social competition. All senior competition games are played on Saturdays at the same time and place each week (Softball Complex, Stevenson Park, Mayfield West).

Midweek Mixed Competition

During November and December a Social 7s mixed competition will be run on a Tuesday for a period of 5 weeks.  The cost will be $60 per team.  Please refer to the NDSA documents and forms page for the rules to this, and all other competitions.
